Pakistan’s security forces have successfully concluded Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1 in Balochistan, eliminating 216 terrorists in a series of coordinated, intelligence-driven operations targeting “Indian-sponsored” terrorist elements, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
The operations were launched in response to a wave of attacks across the province on January 31, which disrupted daily life in Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. The ISPR described the terrorists as part of Fitna-al-Hindustan, an India-backed network including Balochistan-based groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
“Security forces undertook swift, intelligence-led operations to dismantle terrorist hideouts, degrade leadership and command structures, and neutralise imminent threats to civilians,” the ISPR said. During the initial phase of the operation in Panjgur and the outskirts of Harnai District, 41 terrorists affiliated with Indian proxy networks were killed. Subsequent broader clearance operations targeted sleeper cells across the province, recovering a substantial cache of foreign-origin weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
The ISPR confirmed that 36 innocent civilians, including women and children, and 22 security and law enforcement personnel were martyred during the operations. “Their courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment reflect the highest traditions of service. The nation honours their sacrifice and stands in solidarity with the families of all martyrs,” the statement added.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for their timely and precise response, noting that the intelligence-driven operations had dealt a significant blow to foreign-backed terrorist networks. He offered condolences to the families of the martyred civilians and personnel and stressed that eradicating terrorism remains a top priority.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, saying the operations “broke the backbone of enemies seeking to sabotage peace and development” in Balochistan.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti warned that any attempts to destabilize the province would be met with a decisive response. He labelled the BLA a “fitna targeting innocent civilians” and stressed that Pakistan would not compromise on its unity, security, or development.
The ISPR reaffirmed that counter-terrorism operations will continue under the National Action Plan until the complete elimination of terrorist threats, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to peace, stability, and the protection of its citizens.
