Pakistani boxer Qudratullah has reportedly gone missing just hours before the national contingent was scheduled to depart for home following the conclusion of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
According to sources, the 21- member Pakistani delegation was gathered in the hotel lobby at 9am before leaving for Pakistan. However, when team officials checked Qudratullah's room approximately six hours earlier, they found that he was no longer there.
Sources said the boxer's passport and return ticket remain with the team manager, adding to the mystery surrounding his disappearance.
The incident is the latest in a string of similar cases involving Pakistani boxers during overseas tours. Last year, boxer Zohaib reportedly went missing while accompanying the national team in Italy. On an earlier occasion, another member of Pakistan's boxing squad also disappeared during an international assignment.
The development comes after Pakistan endured one of its least successful Commonwealth Games campaigns, returning home with only a single medal. Boxer Fatima Zahra secured the country's sole podium finish by winning bronze in the women's 60kg event, becoming the first Pakistani woman to claim a boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games. She was subsequently chosen to carry the national flag during the closing ceremony.
Pakistan's lone bronze medal marked its lowest Commonwealth Games medal haul since 1998 and its poorest performance in the competition over the past 36 years. Despite entering the event as one of the country's strongest medal prospects, Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem was unable to secure a podium finish.
