Deaths from the coronavirus have skyrocketed across the country in the past few weeks. Many representatives of the government have also been affected. Two members of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assemblies have lost their lives due to the virus on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Sindh minister Ghulam Murtaza Baloch died from the disease. In KP Mian Jamshedud Din Kakakhel of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lost his life this morning at Islamabad's Kalsoom Hospital. He had been on the ventilator for a week.
He was 65 years of age and first elected for the provincial assembly in 2018 from Nowshera.
Shibli Faraz, the information minister said that he was ‘deeply saddened’ by the news. He tweeted in his honour, saying that the services Kakakhel provided for the party will be ‘remembered forever.’

PML-N MPA from Wazirabad, Punjab, Shaukat Manzoor Cheema also lost his life due to the virus later in the day, his colleague in the Punjab Assembly, MPA Bilal Farooq Tarar confirmed. He had been undergoing treatment at the Pakistan Kidney And Liver Institute (PKLI) in Lahore.
Tarar said in a tweet: "His condition had significantly improved a few days back as he was taken off the vent. Deteriorated all of a sudden today. May Allah grant him peace in Jannat"
