After a gap of more than a decade, the first flight of British Airways to Pakistan landed at Islamabad airport on Monday. British Airways had suspended the route following the Mariott Hotel bombing in Islamabad.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner flew from Heathrow International Airport, London carrying 240 passengers.The passengers were greeted by a welcoming committee comprised of Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Special Assistant to the PM on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Hussain Bukhari and senior officials of the Aviation Division and the British High Commission.
Meanwhile, PM’s Special Assistant on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan, in a series of tweets said that the development reveals the world’s confidence in Naya Pakistan and its government.
“Resumption of flight operations shows that Pakistan is moving towards development. InshAllah Pakistan will achieve its goal of development and economic prosperity under the leadership of Imran Khan”, she wrote.
