Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that issues of national interest should not be politicised.
Awan added that she was hopeful that the parliament would play its legal and constitutional role to "once and for all" settle the issue of COAS extension. She stooped short of mentioning as to what the issue was. But the government spokesperson appeared to be referring to legislation on the extension of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa's tenure.
"We all have a responsibility to Pakistan's institutions, which are the guarantors of national well-being," she said.
Meanwhile, PMLN has extended support to the government's legislation on the matter of COAS extension.
