Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan has been reinstated as the information minister of Punjab months after he had resigned following his derogatory comments about the Hindu community, with the move causing outrage on social media.
In March, Chohan had resigned following severe criticism regarding his bigoted remarks against he Hindu community. In a television programme, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s member of provincial assembly (MPA) of Punjab had said that Hindus were ‘cow-urine drinking people’.
Following the news, people took to Twitter to express their resentment over the fact that someone who had made derogatory remarks against the Hindu minority had been given an important portfolio again.
Journalist Murtaza Ali Shah took to Twitter to state that Chohan’s reinstatement was a moment of silence for those media personnel who had hailed his sacking as the coming of a ‘Naya Pakistan’.
