The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has announced 1,000 scholarships for Sri Lankan students under the Pakistan-Sri Lankan Higher Education Programme.
The News reported that the scholarship looks after the tuition fee, accommodation allowance, books allowance, study allowance and payment for a one-time air ticket.
The scholarships were spread over the next five years and provide an excellent opportunity for 1,000 Sri Lankan students to study undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree programs in Engineering Science, Basic and Natural Sciences and also Social Sciences.
Pakistan aims to strengthen bilateral relationships between the two countries via the move. The country also aims to promote the effective exchange of knowledge and culture.
Sources told The News that Sri Lankan students will study in top universities of Pakistan and will get a chance to learn the Pakistani culture, traditions, and values and will teach Pakistani counterparts about their country.
The Allama Iqbal Scholarships were part of HEC’s internationalization initiative to encourage international students to study in Pakistan. The women candidates were highly encouraged to apply for these scholarships.
The last date to apply for the scholarships is May 15.
President Dr. Arif Alvi will launch the second phase of Allama Iqbal Scholarship program for Afghan students on Monday, official sources have said.
Last year Pakistan approved an additional 3,000 scholarships for Afghan students under the second phase of the Program.
