Hina Parvez Butt of the PML-N has taken aim at the government for its handling of religious groups seen as transmitting the novel Coronavirus due to their failure to implement social distancing guidelines.
In a tweet which she later appears to have deleted, Butt appeared to be attacking law enforcement measures against members of the Tablighi Jamat, such as the use of handcuffs. She also asked as to whether pilgrims returning from Iran were subjected to the same strict law enforcement measures as members of the Tablighi Jamaat:
In a later tweet, she emphasized that both the pilgrims returning from Iran and the members of Tablighi Jamaat are worthy of respect in her eyes. She also reiterated the original demand that punitive measures such as handcuffs not be used in dealing with anyone.
