Multan Sultans participated in this years Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) without depositing the mandatory franchise fee reports Cricket Pakistan.
As per sources, Multan Sultans owned by Ali Tareen won the franchise rights for the sixth team of HBL PSL. The said team was unable to pay the annual amount of $6.35 million to the Pakistan Cricket Board.
It is pertinent to mention that every team participating in the tournament is required to deposit the annual franchise fee before the start of the season.
According to Cricket Pakistan, Ali Khan Tareen did not reply, when asked about his stance on this situation. Meanwhile, team’s General Manager Haider Azhar, who had promised to share the franchise’s version on the issue on Monday, failed to respond until late Tuesday.
When PCB was approached on this matter, they said, "Multan Sultans is in compliance with their franchise agreement". It is important to note that the said franchise`s agreement was terminated before when the owners - Schon Group were not able to abide by financial obligations before Ali Tareen took over.
