Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmad has taken notice of the attack on Hindu temple in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) by an enraged mob that had burnt the place of worship down on Wednesday. The CJ has sought report from IG KP and chief secretary.
The mob attacked and torched the temple allegedly after hateful speeches were made at a religious party’s event.
It is alleged that a JUI-F rally was held nearby where speakers delivered fiery speeches inciting violence against the community, following which a crowd of Muslims stormed the temple, set it ablaze and razed it to the ground.
Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari had taken notice of the incident and strongly condemned it. Taking to Twitter she wrote, “Strongly condemn the burning of a Hindu temple by a mob in Karak Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. KP govt must ensure culprits brought to justice. MOHR also moving on this. We as a govt have a responsibility to ensure safety & security of all our citizens & their places of worship.”
