Legendary Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan died on Wednesday after battling a long illness. Due to the nationwide coronavirus lockdown, his funeral was attended only by family members, close friends and a few industry colleagues in Mumbai.
Irrfan Khan was buried at Mumbai’s Versova burial ground on Wednesday afternoon. Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, actor Rajpal Yadav, comedian Kapil Sharma and singer Mika Singh were among those who attended the funeral of the late versatile actor.
The actor’s family issued a statement, "Irrfan was buried at the Versova kabrastan [graveyard] in Mumbai at 3pm this afternoon soon after the news of his passing away was announced. In presence were his family, close relatives and friends. Everyone paid their final respects and mourned the loss of his passing away. We pray for his peace and we hope he’s in a better place today. He was strong in his fight, and we all have to be strong too in this loss."
