Hundreds of people stage a protest demonstration on Wednesday against the murder of a minor girl in Lower Dir. People belonging to all segments of life including lawyers’ bodies and political parties participated in the protest.
They demanded the authorities arrest the culprits at the earliest, giving a three-day ultimatum to the police for nabbing the perpetrators. They warned that if the police did not arrest the culprits, they would block the Chakdara-Timergara Road.
Anjaman-e-Tajiran President Khawaja Faiz, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Syed Sultanat, Awami National Party (ANP_ leader Hussain Yousafzai, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) member Aman Khan and other speakers condemned the murder.
President of Chakdara Bar Association, Ataullah Advocate announced that no lawyer would defend the culprits in this case.
The police registered an FIR against unknown persons and arrested ten suspects. Dawn News reported that the arrested include the relatives and neighbours of the family that had invited mother of the ill-fated minor to attend an engagement ceremony six days before the incident.
DSP Ijaz Khan told that the body of the deceased, which was recovered on Tuesday, had been sent to Khyber Medical University for DNA testing.
