200 missing persons have returned to their homes since January this year, claimed Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove on Saturday.
Langove informed Dawn News TV on Saturday evening that according to the data about the return of missing people, 200 missing people have been returned not thousands [as previously claimed) after January 1 of this year.
The number of 200 recovered individuals, however has been disputed by Voice of Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) chairman Nasrullah Baloch, who put the number around half of what Lamgove claimed. VBMP had provided a list of 365 missing persons to Balochistan government out of which, 103 missing persons have been returned, said Nasrullah.
In August of 2018, a six-point agreement was signed between the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) and the newly formed PTI-led government. The six points included recovery of missing persons and Langove said that the issue the top priority of the BNP-M provincial government in Balochistan.
BNP-M President Sardar Akhtar Mengal, told Naya Daur in May that “The government is seemingly helpless and powerless.”He added that if the PTI government had no authority to resolve the issue “then they must tell us regarding their helplessness and powerlessness”.
Criticising the PTI government, he said, “The government should have had questioned those who have the decision making power before forming an alliance with us on the basis of six points because so far the PTI-led government is looking incapable of and impotent to address our six points.”
However, the party in return for a renewed commitment for the implementation of its six-point agenda, supported the PTI government in passing the budget for the financial year 2019-20.
