Thousands Of Books Found Discarded In Govt School In Narowal
Narowal

Thousands of books published by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board have been found dumped in a government school in Narowal.

In what appears to be the negligence of the District Educational Authority, the administration of the Govt High School Narowal did not issue to its students thousands of free textbooks provided by the Punjab government. These books have been found rotting in a classroom of the school.

According to a report in Dawn, a similar incident took place a few years ago whereby the school was given thousands of books to distribute among its students. The school distributed some of them while the rest were left lying around and sold as scrap.

Two students of the school informed media that they had not been given the books and were forced to purchase books from the market. Moreover, parents of two other students stated that the government was claiming that it had provided the books to students, but that was a lie.

Meanwhile, District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Muhammad Zulfiqar has stated that the books were not required by the school nor were they demanded from the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board Lahore. He added that he would write to the textbook board to return the books to them.
