ISLAMABAD: In the wake of the effort to expand the tax net, Federal Board of Revenue has advised Pakistani showbiz celebrities to pay tax and declare their assets subsequently.
In an awareness session regarding the recent tax amnesty scheme, FBR officials briefed showbiz personalities regarding the methodology behind asset declaration.
According to the Express Tribune, In Land Revenue Chief Commissioner Badaruddin Ahmed Qureshi along with his team answered questions raised by various showbiz personalities.
Qureshi reiterated what Prime Minister Imran Khan and his economic team have been saying since the introduction of the Tax Amnesty Scheme.
Showbiz personalities participating in the session included Nadia Hussain, Urwa Hocane, Farhan Saeed, Neelum Muneer, and Zeba Shehnaz.
As reported by the Express Tribune, Nadia Hussain raised a pertinent question regarding tax challans. She was of the view that showbiz personalities including actors, singers, and others worked all across the country, therefore, it was hard to obtain relevant tax challans.
Showbiz personalities agreed that there was a need to ensure transparency in the whole process.
