Sindh Police have arrested two suspects after a video of a madrasa teacher beating up a minor girl in Karachi's Orangi Town seminary went viral a few days ago.
In the video, the teacher is seen repeatedly hitting the girl with an object as she screams and cries for help.
The issue was highlighted by a social media user on Aug 21, when he shared the video of the incident.
He wrote: “Mullah Ahmad Saeed tortures innocent children in madrasa Khalid Bin Waleed, Orangi Town, Mominabad Zia Colony. When the father complained, he was beaten by all the [teachers] in the mosque […] Mominabad police station refuses to take action.”
However, the Sindh government swang into action after the outcry on the microblogging website. Chief Minister's Adviser Murtaza Wahab subsequently shared a picture of detained suspects and a copy of FIR on Twitter with a caption 'action taken'.
