In a shocking incident, Muhammad Usman, Deputy Director (Operations) of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) under the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), was abducted at gunpoint from his residence in Islamabad’s Sector H-13. Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the case.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged at Shams Colony Police Station, four armed men arrived in a vehicle on the evening of October 14 and kidnapped Muhammad Usman from outside his home. His wife, Rozina Usman, who lives in Lahore, said she was unable to contact her husband and travelled to Islamabad to file the complaint after learning of his disappearance.
Rozina stated that her husband was serving as Deputy Director (Operations) at the NCCIA and was working on several sensitive cybercrime investigations. She alleged that the abductors intercepted him near his residence and forcibly took him away at gunpoint.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to abduction. Authorities said CCTV footage from the area shows Usman being taken away in a white car. The registration number of the vehicle has been identified, and efforts are underway to locate the suspects.
Sources within the FIA confirmed that Muhammad Usman also headed the agency’s Technical Team, which deals with online forensics, digital fraud, and illegal betting investigations. They added that while his role involved handling critical digital evidence and data, his work was largely technical in nature.
Law enforcement agencies have initiated geofencing and digital tracking measures to trace the abductors. So far, no arrests have been made, but multiple teams are pursuing leads to ensure the safe recovery of the missing FIA officer.
