There has been a strong reaction on social to the murder of Bilal Khan, a blogger who was killed in Islamabad on Sunday, as people from all walks of life condemned the incident.

Bilal, a resident of Chilas, lived in the Bharakahu area of the federal capital and was a student of International Islamic University Islamabad.

According to police, he was stabbed to death in Sector G-9/4 after a person, Usman, called him, asking him to visit the locality.

Ihtesham, who was injured in the incident, in his initial statement said around four to five people attacked them as they were going towards the agreed point.

Islamabad SSP Malik Naeem Iqbal told Independent Urdu that the murder seemed to be a result of some personal dispute; however, other reasons, including his activities on social media, might also be a factor.

Bilal used to comment on religious issues and, therefore, sectarian or religious factor could not also be ruled out.

Meanwhile, his father, who is imam at a mosque in Abbottabad, has reportedly said that they did not have any personal enmity.

On the other hand, people condemned the incident on his Twitter, especially those who did not agree with his views.
