Human Rights Commission Pakistan (HRCP) on Tuesday issued a report in 2018 and shed light on the situation of human rights in the country.
According to the report, 1,338 people died by suicide in Pakistan due to depression in 2018. 786 among the dead were male, while 552 were female. The biggest causes of mental health issues are political instability, lack of peace and lack of basic necessities of life. Despite the soaring rates of deaths due to mental health issues, there is also no political will and no proper mental health policy in Pakistan.
Moreover, 854 people were subjected to sexual violence, while 316 people were subjected to crimes in the name of 'honour'.
