The Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) held a mammoth rally in Bannu district despite administrative hurdles that have now become a routine for the rights movement, given its critical stance towards state institutions. The rally was attended by men and women from the Pashtun heartland, thereby demonstrating support for the movement outside the tribal districts.
Mainstream media once again blacked out coverage of the rally.
Twitterati appear outraged about this situation for the past 24 hours. Social media users have also been asking why there was not even a modicum of coverage despite the attendance of MNAs Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar.
With the exception of Dawn, no media group took up the event.

PTM’s time isn’t up. It’s just beginning. It has become the formidable voice of marginalised & oppressed Pashtuns demanding end to war & exclusion. Bannu rally has mobilised Pashtun masses.#PashtunLongMarch2Bannu pic.twitter.com/fu4nrc0p2j

The crowd at #PashtunLongMarch2Bannu becomes more impressive considering complete media blackout, arrest of PTM workers during mobilization phase & the population of this region. This is the power of raising relevant issues. This is the space that was ceded by political parties. pic.twitter.com/9wrgu9Bro2
