'Who Are Lawyers Protesting Against?': Twitter Reacts To PBC's Strike

The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) on Thursday called on lawyers across the province to go on strike demanding that arrested lawyers be released by the police.

Lawyers of the PBC attacked the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) on Wednesday to protest against the Young Doctor’s Association (YDA) who they accuse of 'mistreatment'.

The attack led to the death of several patients and the destruction public property including the PIC building and many police vehicles. This was followed by the police registering FIRs against the lawyers involved in the riots.

People on social media have questioned as to why the PBC is protesting instead of condemning the hooliganism practiced by lawyers outside the PIC. Twitter users have termed this act as an example of ‘wukla gardi'.
