Owner of Geo-Jang group Mir Shakilur Rehman has been arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a case pertaining to purchase of a 45 kanal piece of land.
Earlier, the media tycoon was asked to appear before the Lahore branch of the accountability watchdog before March 5.
On Thursday, he appeared before the bureau for the second time in the said case. According to reports, he did not manage to satisfy the officials with his response, after which he was arrested.
NAB has claimed that former PM Nawaz Sharif had given the said piece of land to Rahman in 1986.
Meanwhile, the Jang group has denounced his arrest, terming the case fake and fabricated. The spokesperson of the group further said that they will prove that the case is based on trumped up charges.
