LAHORE (September 9, 2026) — Fikr-o-Amal, in collaboration with Naya Daur, hosted a panel discussion on provincial governance and political debate today at the South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) auditorium in Shadman.
The event was well attended by civic activists, legal experts, students, and journalists.
The panel featured prominent speakers Barrister Ali Zafar and political analyst and activist Ammar Rashid as the main guests. Huma Ejaz Zaman moderated the talk. Both speakers addressed the critical role of strong provincial institutions, legislative efficiency, and the necessity of fostering structured democratic discourse in Pakistan’s current political landscape.
Barrister Ali Zafar highlighted the constitutional aspects of provincial autonomy, emphasizing that effective governance relies on empowering local leadership and strengthening legislative frameworks. Ammar Rashid discussed the societal and political mechanics of public debate, stressing the need for inclusive political engagement and policy-driven governance and administration.
The discussion was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where audience members engaged directly with the panelists on pressing issues concerning provincial administration, decentralization, and public policy formulation.
