Imran Khan Not Invited For Eastern Economic Forum, Russian Media Clarifies
MOSCOW: Russia has clarified that Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has not been invited to the Eastern Economic Forum. The clarification comes in as Pakistani media on Monday reported that the premier had been invited.

The said forum is scheduled to take place in the far eastern Russian port city of Vladivostok. It is pertinent mentioning here that Russian President Vladimir Puttin and Imran Khan had met on the sidelines of the 19th meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

"We drew attention to the publications in a number of South Asian media that the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan was invited to the events of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF-5) in Vladivostok (September 4-6, this year) as the guest of honor…”.

“We expect that the President of Mongolia H Battulga, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of Malaysia M Mohammad and the Prime Minister of Japan S Abe will arrive in Vladivostok.”

Media reports that the forum that began in 2015 aims to garner investment in Russia’s far east region.

Pakistan's Foreign Office is yet to respond on Russian clarification.
