Bollywood is arguably one of the most competitive film industries around the world. The margins for error are few and far between, and most people don’t get a second chance if they mess up or don’t meet the standards the first time around.
We have tons of examples of once-prospects-turned-into-failures who quietly disappeared from the mainstream, or any stream for that matter. And since it is a huge industry, people from different nationalities have tried their luck too, including some of Pakistan’s very best.
Unfortunately, they could not do well.
Meera
Meera is one of Pakistan’s finest big-screen actors. Though her personal life has been subject to quite a few controversies but that should not undermine her acting skills.
The Pakistani actor tried her luck in Bollywood with Indo-Pak joint project titled ‘Nazar’ in 2005. She also appeared in ‘Kasak’ with Lucky Ali in the same year, but the films did not fare well.
Imran Abbas
The Dil-e-Muztar star has featured in dozens of successful TV Dramas throughout his career, and won numerous awards and praise for his acting skills. He is rather popular among his female fans due to his good looks too.
But fine acting skills and good looks don’t always guarantee success. Imran’s Bollywood debut alongside Bipasha Basu in ‘Creature 3D’ failed miserably. He tried his luck with ‘Jaanisar’ too but that did not work out as planned too.
Mawra Hocane
Beauty with brains? That’s Mawra Hocane for you. The younger Hocane is a fine actress and has graced the TV screens in some of the most popular Dramas of the current decade.
When Bollywood comes calling, there are only a few that would say no (maybe Shaan Shahid but let’s not go there). Mawra took the opportunity and debuted with ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’.
Though she did pretty well, we can’t say the same about the film.
Humayun Saeed
Anything Humayun Saeed does, he does best, right? Bollywood fans beg to differ. While Pakistan’s evergreen actor is a sweetheart of millions, he could not really replicate his success in India.
Humayun worked in Jashnn movie in 2019 and that was that. The film failed, and Humayun decided to never go back to India again.
Veena Malik
Veena Malik was probably the most important Pakistani for India in 2010 when she went to contest in Big Boss season 4. She literally exhaled ratings due to her on-screen romance with Ashmit Patel and appearances on reality shows.
This tempted her to go a step ahead and work in movies. She starred in ‘Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai’ in 2012 and Puri Ki Puri Daal Hi Kharab Nikli.
