A Deputy Superintendent of Police was killed and two other police officials were injured in a shootout with alleged militants in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday.
The police team raided a house in Kalu Khan village of Razzar tehsil on a tip-off. The suspects, however, allegedly started firing as the police team arrived on the spot. Consequently, DSP Allam Iqbal embraced martyrdom and two others were critically injured.
A suspected militant, identified as Naseer, was also killed in the police action while two others were reportedly injured and managed to escape. Soon after the incident, police started a manhunt in the area for the escaped suspects.
