Pakistan To Send ‘Increased Number’ Of Doctors To Kuwait To Handle Coronavirus
Pakistan signed a health agreement with Kuwait on Saturday according to which the former will send an “increased number of doctors, nurses and paramedics” in the Gulf country to handle the coronavirus crisis.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Oversees Pakistanis, Zulfikar Bukhari, took to Twitter to announce the news. He said, “Today we signed an agreement with the government of Kuwait to send an increased no of Pakistani doctors, nurses, and paramedics to work there. I thank our Kuwaiti brothers for preferring Pakistani healthcare professionals, this is a big step towards bringing our 2 great countries further closer.”

“The cooperation agreement would institutionalise recruitment of healthcare professionals from Pakistan for Kuwait on a regular basis as per requirements of Ministry of Health of Kuwait. It will also cement and foster bilateral cooperation in the health sector between the two countries. The signing of the agreement is the manifestation of strong growing bilateral relations in all spheres between the two countries," the agreement noted

Gulf News reported that the team of Pakistani health professionals is expected to include 100 doctors and 500 nurses and other health workers who would assist Kuwait’s health department to deal with the pandemic.

The bilateral cooperation agreement on recruitment of healthcare experts from Pakistan was signed on July 4 at the Ministry of Health of Kuwait, according to the Pakistan embassy in Kuwait. Pakistan’s Ambassador Syed Sajjad Haider on behalf of Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) and Dr. Mustafa Redha, Undersecretary, Ministry of Health, Kuwait signed the agreement, the officials said.

The health authorities of Kuwait have reported 49,303 COVID-19 cases, while 365 people have lost their lives across the country.
