A man in Chitral, Kyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) who posted false information about Coronavirus on social media was booked by police on charges of spreading disinformation online.

The Express Tribune quoted the SHO of Darosh Police Station as saying that a Chinese citizen working on the Lawi Hydro Power Project in Chitral visited a local hospital for stomach ache, and doctors prescribed him some medicines.
But the accused talked to him angrily at the hospital and later shared it on social networking websites saying the Chinese man was infected with novel coronavirus.
The disinformation resulted in a wave of fear among the locals. Taking notice of the incident, the police registered FIR against the man, but he has reportedly received pre-arrest bail.
