Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator Raza Rabbani has said that his party should not have sought Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and Dilawar Khan group's support for the election of Yousaf Raza Gilani in the Senate.
He expressed these views while speaking to journalists on Wednesday. He added that while the post of opposition leader was PPP's right, seeking BAP's support was a wrong decision. Rabbani further said that the move harmed the party's ideological foundation.
The former Senate chairman also advised the opposition leaders to keep their unity intact for the cause of supremacy of the Constitution.
Earlier, PPP leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar had also expressed disagreement with his party's decision to seek support from the BAP. He added that it gave a bad impression to the public that is currently dealing with inflation.
Further, Khokhar said that while PPP was weak in its position regarding the Senate leader of opposition position, other PDM parties are weak in their stance pertaining to resignation from assemblies.
