DG ISPR Salutes Norwegian Man Who Stopped Desecration Of Quran

Military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor has praised the courage of Norwegian Muslim man Ilyas, who hit a person in a bid to stop him from desecrating the Holy Quran by burning. In a tweet, the DG ISPR said, "Such Islamophobia based provocations only promote hatred and extremism."

A demonstration had been held by a group called Stop Islamisation of Norway (SIAN), and one of its members had tried to burn the Holy Quran. 

Videos doing the rounds on social media showed Thorsen holding a burning copy of the Holy Quran, while a person jumped over a fence and charged at him. The person who attacked Thorsen fell to the ground while police rushed to break up the fight. In some social media posts, he has been identified as Ilyas. However, further details about her identity remain unknown.

Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO) had also condemned the incident , saying that Pakistan’s policy of respect of religions was to ‘live and let live’.
