2 Mosques In Islamabad Sealed After Tableeghi Jamaat Member Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The authorities sealed two mosques in Islamabad on Sunday after a member of Tableeghi Jamaat was tested positive for coronavirus.

Bilal and Makki Masjid were sealed in Islamabad after a member of Tableeghi Jamaat, who was living with his 13 companions was diagnosed with coronavirus on Sunday. Assistant Commission (AC) Islamabad Asadullah along with police officials, a team of the National Institute of Health (NIH) and Edhi ambulances reached Bilal Masjid and transported the 13 Tableeghi Jamaat members initially to Haji Camp and then to PIMS wherein all of them were tested for coronavirus.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat took to Twitter to inform people about the recent development. He said the authorities have disinfected the mosque, where several members of Tableeghi Jamaat were residing with the coronavirus patient. “Terrible lapse and criminal carelessness on part of the Khateeb and Tableeghi Jamaat. They knew that one of them had symptoms and they kept on roaming around,” the DC added.

Moreover, social media reports have claimed that four patients, who attended Raiwind Tableeghi Ijtema have tested positive for coronavirus in Karachi on Sunday.

Despite governments and health expert’s continuous warnings, Jumma congregations and religious gatherings have been continuously happening across the country since the outbreak of deadly coronavirus.

To date, 804 confirmed coronavirus cases have emerged across the country, with the provincial governments of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa confirming 352, 225, 108, and 32 cases respectively. Moreover, the government officials have confirmed six coronavirus deaths in Pakistan.
