In Pictures: Lahore's Walton Airport - A Nursery For Aviation

Although the airport in Walton, Lahore is not in use anymore, it was once the main airport in the provincial capital where both general public and dignitaries arriving in Lahore would land. The airport is still home to VIP 1, which was Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's personal hanger. The space is now used for aviation training. Here are some pictures from the Walton airport and the aircraft that it houses.

10 aircraft belonging to Federal Ministry for Food Security and Research, Plant Protection Department are parked in Walton airport.



Yellow aircraft is Beaver and the rest are Cessna and Flechter. These aircraft have completed their calendar lives.



For the last 20 years, the federal government has not used these aircraft for any aerial spray.



The Punjab government has sold 51 kanal Plant Protection Hanger, along with a ‘taxi way’, a road that leads the aircraft to the runway.



The Walton Airport sign boards possess the capability to generate a digital report.



Despite not being in use, these vintage aircraft have not been auctioned by the government. However, parking fee worth millions is being paid by the Food Security and Research Ministry.
