American singer Rihanna and young climate activist Greta Thunberg have brought international attention to the farmers’ protests taking place in India against the draconian bills passed by the Modi government.
Rihanna on her Twitter account that amasses over 100 million followers shared a CNN article on the farmers protest and wrote: “Why aren’t we talking about this? #FarmersProtest”

While most of social media lauded Rihanna for speaking out for the cause as many influential celebrities in India itself have stayed mum about the entire situation, a section of social media users -mostly BJP supporters and actress Kangama Ranaut trolled the singer accusing her of not knowing of facts about the situation. They termed the protesting farmers terrorists.
