PPP, PML-N Announce APC After Eid To Form Strategy Against Govt

In another bid to send the government home, the opposition parties have announced to hold an all-party conference (APC) in August, right after the Eid.

The APC will be attended by Pakistan People's Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Awami National Party (ANP), National Party (NP), Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and others. A joint action committee has also been formed that is tasked to come up with an anti-government strategy.

The committee consists of PML-N’s Khawaja Asif, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Rana Sanullah, Marriyum Aurangzeb. It will also have the PPP’s representation in the form of Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman, Farhatullah Babar, and Nayyar Bukhari. From the ANP, Mian Ifthikar and Ameer Haider Khan Hoti will be part of the committee while Senator Mir Kabeer Shahi from the National Party will also feature in it.

Over the past month, the opposition parties have ramped up contacts to start an anti-government drive, with PPP at the centre of it.

Earlier, a PML-N delegation reached Bilawal House to meet the PPP chairman to finalise the agenda for the proposed APC. The visit came a day after Bilawal and Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation.

Bilawal and his father, former president Asif Zardari, had also hosted JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Karachi last week in this regard.
