The Sindh Young Nurses Association (SYNA) has announced protest against the transfer of nurses which they say was done in order to silence their voice and their demands for better protective measures during the coronavirus pandemic.
They said on Monday that they will be boycotting work at hospitals in order to stage a sit-in outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) from Tuesday, May 12.
“Whenever nurses raise their voices for their rights, they are transferred and posted at a different hospital as revenge,” Kaleri claimed.
He also mentioned how the nurses yet yet not been given coronavirus risk allowances or health professional allowances, even after putting their lives at risk in the corona-ward everyday.
Kaleri also insisted that Sindh health secretary Zahid Abbassi remained unaware of the fact that the department had many ghost employees.
Kaleri stated that SYNA would be protesting for the approval of its demands, which include the provision of health professional allowances, risk allowances, implementation of a service structure, provision of personal protective equipment and halting transfers.
He added that those who wished to protest but could not join the sit-in at KPC could protest at the press clubs of their cities and towns.
