As she visited a government store that sells rations, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan cracked a joke while interacting with a woman present on the scene. The video has since been circulating on social media.
In the video, the Prime Minister's Special Assistant appears to be overseeing relief efforts during the Coronavirus pandemic. Awan asks the woman what she will do with the money that she receives. The woman responds that she has eight children. On this, Awan quips, “Aath bachay hein? Khawand kya karta hai iss kaam ke ilawa?” (“You have eight children? What does the husband do, aside from this work?”)
While some on social media appear to be amused by her characteristic style, others appear to see such humour in bad taste.
