Tableeghi Jamaat members who attended the recently-held Tableeghi Ijtema in Raiwind area of Lahore were asked by the authorities to quarantine themselves after several members testing positive for the novel coronavirus. It is also being said that the attendees of the Raiwind ijtema who returned to their home cities following the cancellation of the ijtema resulted in spread of the virus. In Islamabad, a UC was quarantined after the administration found that coronavirus-positive Tableeghi Jamaat members were not practicing any preventive measures.
Moreover, Islamabad Assistant Commissioner Omar Hayat had recently told Naya Daur that the administration's failure to restrict the movement of Tableeghi Jamaat returnees was the reason why Islamabad saw a sharp surge in coronavirus cases.
