ISLAMABAD: The security budget for tribal areas has been increased by 67 per cent, to Rs 53 billion after diversion of funds initially meant to provide extended relief to temporarily displaced persons (TDP).
Another effect of the altercation in budget allocations took place in the parliamentarians scheme for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It has been uplifted by 25pc to Rs30 bn by diverting Rs6 bn from other schemes.
Initially, the 2019 budget had a 32.5 bn allocation for the development program of TDPs and security enhancement in tribal regions. Till April 3, both the allocations were the same in the Planning Commission papers even though an amount of Rs38.5 bn had already been disbursed for the purpose,the data released by the planning and development ministry concludes.
The budget for Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) in the fiscal year was updated from Rs32.5bn to Rs53bn on Friday.
