The Punjab government has issued a notification that only three to five people would be allowed to offer Jumma congregations in mosques.

A day after the Sindh and Balochistan government’s decision, the Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) run Punjab government, in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, has barred the general public from offering mass Jumma prayers in the province.

According to the notification, only three to five people including the imam and the muezzin would be allowed to pray in mosques, while the remaining public will offer their prayers at their respective homes.

Earlier, the Balochistan and Sindh government on Thursday announced imposition of a ban on mass prayers and congregations in the mosques to contain outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.
