Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday appointed Shaukat Khanum Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Faisal Sultan as his lead and focal person on the novel coronavirus outbreak in the country.
Head Digital Pakistan initiative Tania Aidrus posted Dr Faisal’s appointment notification on Twitter, expressing her desire to work with him to tackle the pandemic. “We must all come together to fight against this virus. Please do your bit by staying home and staying safe to support the government in eradicating this menace,” she added.

According to the notification, Dr Faisal would work in an ‘honorary capacity’ to provide direct input and guidance to the National Coordination Committee (NCC) and would reach out to all the stakeholders to get their input. He would also recommend steps that can be taken for the prevention of the disease on the basis available data.
The newly-appointed focal person is directed to make recommendations for the resource creation for the treatment of patients suffering from the virus.
