Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ahsan's remarks against Pakistan Muslim League - N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz have been criticised on social media. During a talk show on 92 News, Aitzaz Ahsan commented on Maryam Nawaz's physical appearance and said: "She spends a lot of time getting dolled up." He made the remarks while discussing Maryam's recent press conference and her meeting with the PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal. "She appears to be a proud and brave woman. I don't know if that is true," he further said.
Social media users including PML-N leaders condemned Aitzaz Ahsan's remarks, terming them sexist. MPA Sania Ashiq said that Aitzaz Ahsan can't see beyond Maryam's physical appearance because he feels threatened by her following.
