NOWSHERA: Two men have been apprehended for raping and murdering a seven-year-old girl. They were allegedly caught in the act of trying to drown her afterwards.
A paternal uncle of the child told authorities that she had not returned home from the madrassah where she studied, a day earlier. When the family began searching for her, at night they found two men trying to drown her in a water tank. The two men tried to flee the scene after throwing the child into the tank. She died by the time she was recovered.
The two suspects were caught by neighbours and handed over to police, even though some residents wanted to punish them on the spot.
