On the International Disability Day today (Tuesday), Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Twitter that the province will now issue driving licences to the hearing-impaired individuals.

Sindh has had a fairly progressive approach when it comes to legislating on issues related to the differently abled.
In 2018, the Sindh government passed the Disability Act which replaced all previously existing legislation on the topic. The act was a landmark in describing disability in detail and brought into its ambit various conditions that medical practitioners are barely informed of here.
Moreover, the act also reaffirmed the government's dedication towards redesigning education, public spaces and employment for the differently abled all across the province in order to make it more inclusive.
Similar reaffirmations were also made in 2017. This switch in Sindh signals a move towards a rights based approach in legislation that puts people at the center of legislation.
