SHC Orders Govt To Clear Dues of Media Groups In 20 Days
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed the provincial government to clear all outstanding dues of media groups in the next 20 days or else face contempt of court action if the deadline is not met.

A division bench, comprising of Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Agha Faisal, was hearing a contempt of court plea that was filed on behalf of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) by its Secretary-General Dr Jabbar Khatak.

According to the plea, the Sindh government had not yet cleared advertisement dues that it owes to newspaper agencies and media houses, despite the orders passed by SHC on May 30, 2019 in this connection.

It further read that newspaper agencies and media houses were facing a severe financial crunch due to payment issues with the provincial government while salaries of employees had also been delayed for the same reason.
