Ranveer Singh disapproves of ban on Pakistani artists
Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh has condemned a ban on Pakistani artists in India in the wake of heightened tensions between Pakistan and India.

The crisis that started in the wake of Pulwama attack, which claimed lives of more than 40 Indian military troops, escalated when India intruded Pakistan’s airspace and claimed that it had struck down Jaish-e-Muhammad hideout- a claim that was vehemently denied by Pakistan. Following this, Pakistan retaliated and shot down two Indian aircraft that had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and captured Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. However, Pakistan handed over Varthaman to India as a gesture of peace.

Sharing his stance on the ban, Ranveer Singh said, "I am very cognisant that there is this school of thought that one should not mix art and sport with it, they are two different realms."

He added, "But at the same time, us as artists and sportsmen, we are not sacrificing the same way that some of our compatriots are. Art and sports are different realms. The boundaries should be different."

Ranveer Singh’s recent stance is miles apart from his earlier stance wherein he had said the he “wouldn’t oppose” the ban.
