New Zealand PM Declares Mosque Shooting As Terrorist Attack
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has declared the attack on mosques in Christchurch as a terrorist attack.

Addressing a press conference, she said that at least 40 people have died in ‘what is clear now is a terrorist attack’. “With deep sadness, I tell you that 40 people have lost their lives in this act of extreme violence. 10 have died at Linwood Avenue mosque, 3 of which were outside the mosque itself,” she said.

She added that there are also almost 20 people who were wounded in the attack and are being provided medical care.

The suspect live streamed himself entering the mosque. Here is a snapshot.

“It is clear now that this can only be called a terrorist attack,” Ardern said, adding that the attack appears to have been well planned, because two explosive devices were found from the suspect’s vehicle which have now been disarmed.

She also announced that three people with possible links to the attack are in police custody.

Friday’s attack in two New Zealand mosques has left over 49 people dead. The suspect Brenton Tarrant live streamed himself shooting people inside the mosque, and his images are circulating all over the internet.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday condemned the mass shooting in New Zealand mosques saying that the attacks were a result of growing Islamophobia around the world.

Taking to Twitter in the wake of the attack, Khan said that he was ‘shocked’ at the incident. He condemned the attack saying that it ‘reaffirms that terrorism has no religion’. He offered prayers for the victims and their families.
