Indian Foreign Ministry has expressed anger over the release of banknotes by Saudi Arabia that depicted Kashmir as an independent state. Indian foreign ministry said that it expressed "serious concern over the publication of 20 Riyal note". It added that they have asked Saudi Arabia to take 'corrective steps' in this regard.

Saudi Arabia had published the notes after becoming the president of powerful G20. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address G20 in the mid of November.

Kashmir is a disputed territory between Pakistan, India and China. Last year India abolished the autonomous status of Indian Occupied Kashmir and annexed the Ladakh region. India imposed a strict lockdown in Kashmir after that step while many prominent politicians were incarcerated by the Indian state. Many young people were also killed by the Indian Army over the allegations of terrorism.

Seperately, during the last few months India and China had recurring clashes at the Ladakh border. In one of the clashes more than ten Indian soldiers were allegedly killed. After the clashes both India and China increased the number of army on the Ladakh border. Furthermore, Pakistan and India once again came really close to war on Kashmir in the start of 2019. The stand off came to a conclusion when Pakistan returned the Indian Pilot Abhinandan to Indian authorities.
