Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has got its first woman District Police Officer (DPO) after Sonia Shamroz Khan’s posting as the DPO of Lower Chitral.
This is a step forward for the Pakistan police as the number of police officers is proportionally very low in Pakistan especially in more conservative areas like Chitral. Her posting has been welcomed by social media users including activists who say the development will help encourage women to join the police force.
