Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif refused examination by a doctor of the government while he was in custody of the National Accountability Bureau.
A news report in Dawn cited an official as saying that during the 10-day custody period in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case, Nawaz Sharif refused to be examined by a government doctor and only desired to see his personal physician, Dr Adnan Khan.
The official told media that there were three cardiologists to look after the health of Nawaz Sharif but the former PM only allowed them to check his blood pressure.
Moreover, the official said that in a period of 10 days from October 11 to October 21, Nawaz Sharif’s personal physician was allowed to see him thrice. Before that, government doctors were not allowed by Nawaz to get his blood sample, hence, the decline in his health could not be gauged.
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif’s personal physician has stated that his condition was still ‘very serious’ and that he was critically unwell. “He is fighting the battle for his health and life,” he stated on social media on Tuesday.
The medical board treating the former premier has said that Nawaz lost eight kilogrammes weight during his week-long treatment. Till Monday, the Nawaz’s platelet count increased to 28,000.
