The journalist was immediately rushed General Hospital emergency where he is receiving treatment.
The Joint Action Committee while condemning the incident in the strongest possible words said that, “If anything happens to Sajjad Kazmi or any other person who has been forcefully laid off by Dunya News, the committee will file a case against the owner and the managing director of the organisation.”
It merits mention here that Dunya News fired 134 workers two days ago, including cameramen, reporters and drivers.
Journalists had also registered their complaints with Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari.
On the other hand, the owner and management of the news channel told employees that the organisation was facing a tough financial situation and that they had no other option but to fire their employees.
The step taken by Dunya News has received severe criticism on social media.
Office bearers of leading journalism organisations have warned Dunya TV, Lahore News and Roznama Dunya to stop kicking out more journalists and workers from their organisation and reinstate those who have been fired.
They also warned that a protest would be launched if the organisation refuses to fulfill their demands.
